the DOR, Regional, and entire therapy staff (assistants and therapists) all expect you to Bill for documentation time when the pt is no where in sight and the session for the day is over. This has been a violation of CMS rules (so it’s Medicare fraud) forever. You can’t bill documentation time when you’re not w the pt. No one can. I’m an SLP, most my codes r not even timed codes, and I’ve never been allowed, by CMS, to do this. I looked this up and confirmed that nothing had changed for med part A or B in 2020 due to COVID. I even eventually got confirmation from the CA MAC (Noridian). I told the DOR & therapists about how this is Medicare fraud, some seemed surprised, and others were just really worried I was going to get fired since I wasnt doing that. My DOR was new, and we talked about this the entire wk my first week. My DOR was worried that the regional would fire me. Everyone at ONR said that they went through some changes last year (2019), and people who didn’t comply did get fired. I put in my notice at the end of the first wk.
-ONR kept trying to get me to do training off the clock, and had even written that into an employment agreement, which I thought was really funny. Trying to force employees to work off the clock violates labor laws in CA. Travelers are subjected to, and must adhere to, CA labor laws while working there. So writing in a violation of labor law into a contract was just about the most insane thing I’ve ever seen. Im not surprised, but am disappointed the travel company didn’t catch this as it was sent to my recruiter asking him to have me sign me sign it. I looked into CA labor law my first week. It took me less than 1 wk to figure this out, and ONR has been in CA for years. They knew what they were doing, and were super confident that they would always get away with it. The other therapists said that all SNFs in Bakersfiekd were like that, and that there was no where to go in Bakersfield where it’d be better.
-regular evaluating therapists AND assistants had productivity requirements b/w 100-105%
-mine was negotiated with ONR’s recruiter to be b/w 80-85% but magically changed when I got there to 85-90%
